Annual Institute

EMLF has held a two day summer continuing legal education program for over forty years. The sessions cover a wide variety of topical legal issues for energy and mineral law practitioners including commercial, regulatory, title, labor and employment, ethics, litigation and practical skills, risk management, and others, and usually includes a case law and market update. The Annual Institute attracts attorneys and energy professionals from all over the country to great destination locations and features a wide varieties of fun networking opportunities for attendees.

Fall Symposium

Formerly known as the Kentucky Mineral Law Conference, the Fall Symposium has been held in Lexington, Kentucky for 50 years. The Fall Symposium endeavors to focus on practical legal issues for energy law practitioners including the effects of statutory and regulatory changes, emerging trends in commercial transactions and financing, ethics, and more.

Special Institutes

Each year, EMLF holds several special institutes, both in person and virtually. These institutes are more focused in nature – usually covering a particular industry or topic. Previous Special Institute topics have included:

Safety Seminar

EMLF holds a biennial Safety Seminar examining MSHA and OSHA issues for energy companies.
