WVU Moot Court Competition Still Needs Judges

The West Virginia University College of Law Moot Court Board is still in need of lawyers willing to serve as judges for the 7th Annual Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition, which will be held next Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 16-18). Here is a link to the schedule: http://energycomp.law.wvu.edu/schedule

The greatest need is Friday afternoon (round of 16) and Saturday morning (round of 8).   The problem this year involves subsidies paid by electric ratepayers to keep coal-fired power plants operating, as well as co-firing biomass with coal. The legal issues concern the Supremacy Clause, the Federal Power Act and the dormant Commerce Clause.

Past finalists include teams from Duquesne, Texas Tech, North Dakota, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU and Louisville. Other past participants include teams from Maryland, Houston, Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Utah, Pittsburgh, American, Catholic and Pace.

If you can spare some time next week to volunteer, contact Samantha Stefanov at wvumoot@mail.wvu.edu
