Topic Proposals for the 39th Annual Institute

We’re now soliciting topic proposals for the 39th Annual Energy & Mineral Law Institute. Topic proposals will be accepted through January 31, 2018.

The Annual Institute will be held June 17-19, 2018, at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, 611 Commerce St., Nashville, TN 37203.

We invite you to submit topics and speaker suggestions on a wide variety of subjects, including but not limited to oil and natural gas, midstream, natural gas transmission, LNG, natural gas liquids, petrochemicals, coal and mining, Public Land use, electric power generation and distribution, energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental law and regulation, bankruptcy, energy policy, contracts, leases and other transactions, ethics, landman issues, mineral titles and real property, labor and employment, occupational safety and mine safety and health, litigation, power purchase contracts – whatever issues you would like to see addressed.

Part of speaking at the Annual Institute involves a commitment to write a scholarly chapter of law review quality, for inclusion in Volume 39 of the Energy & Mineral Law Institute. Speakers must also provide a PowerPoint presentation and a substantive topic outline for distribution to all Annual Institute attendees in order to meet requirements for Continuing Legal Education credits. The chapter is due at the time of the Annual Institute.

Topic proposals should provide an adequate description of the legal issues to be covered so that the topic can be fully evaluated.  If you have questions regarding any of these requirements, you are encouraged to contact the EMLF before submitting a topic proposal by emailing Sharon Daniels.
