EMLF Call for Nominations
The election of EMLF Officers, Executive Committee and Trustees at Large for 2007-2008 will be held Monday, May 14, 2007 at the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees.  The Board will meet in Charleston, South Carolina, in conjunction with the 28th Annual Institute.

The Nominating Committee is charged with providing a slate of nominees for election by the Board, and invites input from EMLF Members.  The Nominating Committee is chaired by Past President David Laurent, and includes current president Mary Sue Schulberg, president-elect David Ries, and past presidents Tim Gresham, Tom Lane, Tom Meng and Joe Zaluski.

Nominations can be sent to Sharon Daniels, Executive Director, by replying to this email or to the Foundation by email.  Your response by March 23 will be appreciated.

EMLF Scholarship Program
The availability of EMLF law student scholarships for the 2007-08 academic year has been announced at all EMLF member law schools and on the EMLF website.

Twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) in scholarships are funded through membership dues, the EMLF Endowment Fund, the Paul N. Bowles Scholarship Fund, and the James H. Davis, III Scholarship Fund.

Additional scholarships are available for the 2007-2008 academic year through the generous gifts of the following EMLF members:

• Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Scholarship – $1000
• Foundation Coal Corporation Scholarship – $1000
• Jackson Kelly PLLC Scholarship – $1000
• Steptoe & Johnson PLLC Scholarship – $1000
• Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs Scholarship – $1000
• EMLF President Mary Sue Schulberg Scholarship – $1000

Please mention the scholarship program to colleagues and clients, and encourage any law students interested in energy and mineral law to apply.  The application form is on the website and the deadline for applications is April 13.

Since the inception of the EMLF law student scholarship program, over $250,000 has been provided to students attending EMLF member schools.

EMLF Special Institute for Landmen
Three hundred (300) attorneys and landmen are registered for the March 8 program on the oil and gas lease and descent and distribution. This is the first time the EMLF has had to close registration due to lack of seating space.  The program will be at the Days Inn Conference Center in Flatwoods, WV.
