Join our techno-ethics attorneys David Ries with Clark Hill and Daniel Siegel, as they discuss selected recent issues in legal ethics of which attorneys need to be aware. This session will explore current developments in competence in technology, confidentiality, and protection of privilege, including ABA Model Rules 1.1, 1.4, 1.6, 5.1, and 5.3, new ethics opinions from the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and recent court cases. It will include practical steps to protect confidentiality and privilege and comply with these duties.

  • Understand ethics requirements of competence in technology, confidentiality, and supervision, and recent ethics opinions applying them
  • Appreciate the risks of electronic communications, file sharing, and use of smartphones and popular apps
