EMLF Seeks Fall Intern

The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF) is looking for an enthusiastic and creative person to assist its staff with all stages of marketing campaigns and contribute to the overall communications strategy of the organization, as well as assist its staff with planning and implementing educational programming.  This internship will help you hone your marketing skills as well as gaining first-hand experience in the implementation of non-profit marketing and communication strategies, and provides the opportunity to build your skills in organizing and conducting large and small scale events and series, interaction with and assistance of patrons, and designing educational programs to fit the needs of the organization’s constituency.  EMLF is a collaborative environment, and the Communications and Program Intern will have the opportunity to see their ideas realized and make a meaningful impact on the marketing efforts of the organization right away.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with EMLF staff to develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy (e.g. social media, direct mail, and web)
  • Work with EMLF staff to develop and implement a specific marketing strategy for each event that takes place during the internship period
  • Design and present new social media campaign ideas
  • Write copy for social media posts, promotional e-mails, member e-news, and other marketing items, and assist in the creation of video and image content for marketing channels
  • Measure and report the results of marketing initiatives, and monitor social media platforms for trending news, ideas, and feedback
  • Assist staff with updating and maintaining EMLF website, including management of website SEO
  • Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities, daily administrative tasks, and distribution of marketing materials
  • Work with EMLF staff to develop and implement educational programming for attorneys and other professionals in the energy industry, including 1-2 in-person events, virtual programming, and other events
  • Work with speakers and authors to develop educational material, coordinate presentations, and create handouts and other written materials for attendees
  • Coordinate event registration and communication with attendees prior to events
  • Attend events (EMLF will provide travel and lodging) and provide support to staff and attendees (travel is flexible based on intern’s schedule and responsibilities)
  • Assist staff with daily administrative tasks and preparation of conference supplies

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Comfortable with multitasking and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Applied understanding of basic marketing principles
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office
  • Photography, image and video editing, and graphic design skills a plus
  • Previous experience with WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud and social media management tools a plus

The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF) is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to provide continuing legal education to attorneys and other professionals in the energy industry.  EMLF was formed over forty years ago, and each year produces 3-5 live multi-day conferences, regular virtual programming, publishes scholarly articles, and provides scholarships and other outreach to law students.   Membership in EMLF is open to anyone who is concerned with issues pertaining to the energy industry. Our members include law firms, consulting firms, utilities, energy companies, trade and professional associations, individual attorneys, industry executives, retirees, law schools, and law students.

The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation is a national non-profit that fosters the study of natural resource development and energy use laws and regulations.  The goals of EMLF are to:

  • Achieve continued excellence in natural resources and energy law education;
