Mary Sue Schulberg, 49, of Teays Valley, WV, formerly of Bridgeport, WV and Pittsburgh, PA, died on Thursday, December 25, at Hubbard Hospice House following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born October 20, 1959 in Clarksburg, to Lloyd and Sara Weekley of Bridgeport. She was the sister of David and Linda Weekley of South Charleston, Dan and Leslie Weekley of South Glastonbury, Connecticut, and Martha Weekley of Winfield. Her grandparents were Mabel and Ben Hardman and Edna and Arnold Weekley, all of Middlebourne.

Mary Sue was a 1980 graduate of West Virginia University and received her Juris Doctor degree from WVU School of Law in 1983. She was admitted to the practice of law in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. She was a well respected oil and gas lawyer. Most recently she was a Senior Attorney in the Legal Department for NiSource Corporate Services Company. Mary Sue was actively involved in the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation as a trustee and was its immediate past president.

She loved to travel, particularly to the island of St. Maarten, to scuba dive and she was an avid reader. In recent years she had become a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mary Sue is survived by her loving husband, Arnold Schulberg, and her two beautiful children, Alec, 18, and Dinah, 15; by her parents, siblings, nephews and extended family, and by her in-laws who adored her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ahmed Khalid, the staff of 5 South at CAMC Memorial, and everyone at Hubbard Hospice House for their efforts on Mary Sue’s behalf during her lengthy fight.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Mary Sue Schulberg Scholarship at Energy & Mineral Law Foundation, 340 South Broadway, Suite 101, Lexington, Kentucky 40508 or the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary Sue’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street, East, Charleston, WV 25301. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m.
