The cut-off date for accepting reservations for the 30th Annual Institute in the EMLF room block is April 28. Call 1.800.HILTONS and ask for the EMLF room block rate. If your requested room type is not available, please ask the hotel to make a note of your request in the event such rooms become available.
Kentucky Mineral Law Conference Planning Meeting June 2, 2009
The annual planning meeting in Lexington for the 34th Kentucky Mineral Law Conference will be Tuesday, June 2 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. If you would like to attend the luncheon meeting, contact emlf@aol.com and we will provide you with the location. The October 28-30 Conference at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington begins Wednesday afternoon with the Oil & Gas Track, General Session topics follow on Thursday, and on Friday morning there will be concurrent Coal and Renewable Energy Tracks. Please send topic proposals with brief description and any suggested speakers by Friday, May 29.
Tennis, Anyone? Or Golf?
Sean Cassidy is coordinating a Round Robin Tennis Tournament during the Annual Institute on Sunday, May 17, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Palmetto Dunes. The fee is $20 per person, and racquets can be rented for $5. The deadline for holding the courts for EMLF is Monday, May 11, so please reply before that date if you want to participate. Payment will be made at the time of the tournament.
Golf Outing – We still have 16 openings for the Sunday morning golf outing during the Annual Institute at the Robert Trent Jones course at Palmetto Dunes. Tee times are from 9:20-10:16 a.m. at a cost of $140. Associate Solicitor Ed Clair, USDOL to Retire
After 35 years of service to the Secretary of Labor and the Mine Safety & Health Administration, May 1 will be the last day in the office for Ed Clair. Ed has been instrumental in developing the Mine Safety & Health Law programs held in Washington, DC, which are co-sponsored by the EMLF and the USDOL. The EMLF Executive Committee has passed a Resolution recognizing the superior service of Ed Clair in providing educational programming with the EMLF on Mine Safety & Health Law.
