Elizabeth Housley
University of Oklahoma
Elisabeth Housley is the recipient of the Sharon Daniels scholarship and an EMLF scholarship. She is a Juris Doctor candidate with a developing focus in natural resources, energy, and oil and gas law, shaped by both academic study and hands-on legal experience at the University of Oklahoma. Her interest in the field began during her first-year Property course, where she became drawn to the real-world implications of property rights and resource ownership. Encouraged by her professors, she pursued this interest through coursework in Oil and Gas Law and wind energy, as well as participation in OU Law’s Oil and Gas, Natural Resources, and Energy Journal (ONE-J).
Through her journal work, Elisabeth has engaged in in-depth legal research and writing on emerging issues in energy law, including a substantial article analyzing Oklahoma’s Carbon Capture and Geologic Sequestration Act alongside comparable legislation in other states. This experience strengthened her understanding of evolving regulatory frameworks and deepened her commitment to contributing to the development of natural resources law in her home state.
In addition to her academic work, she completed a summer internship with a local district attorney’s office, where she gained exposure to litigation and developed a strong interest in courtroom practice. Elisabeth aims to combine her interests in energy law and litigation by pursuing a career representing clients in oil and gas and natural resources matters, with a longterm goal of working at the intersection of evolving energy development and legal advocacy in Oklahoma and beyond.
