Megan Skean
West Virginia University College of Law
Megan Skean will enter her third year at WVU College of Law this fall. Growing up in West Virginia, Skean is a recipient of an EMLF General Fund Scholarship. She witnessed the complexities and challenges inherent in balancing economic growth, environmental sustainability, and regulatory compliance. She’s interested in the intersection of law and policy, where legal professionals can influence legislative and regulatory reforms to foster sustainable energy practices. Skean plans to participate in WVU Law’s Land Use and Sustainable Development Clinic, to work directly with communities and policymakers to develop legal strategies that address land use challenges in the context of energy development.
“These experiences have fueled my passion for developing legal solutions that promote responsible resource management while ensuring economic stability for communities that rely on these industries,” Skean said in her scholarship application statement. “I am eager to collaborate with legal professionals who share a vision of a balanced, forward-thinking approach to energy and natural resource law, and I am committed to making a meaningful impact in this field. Through education, practical experiences, and a passion for energy and natural resources law, I aspire to play a role in shaping the legal and policy frameworks that will define the future of energy in the United States.”
