Arnando Smith, an EMLF General Fund Scholarship recipient, is entering his third year at Appalachian School of Law. He said growing up in an area rich in natural resources, he observed the impact that resource management had on his community and environment. He observed the same while serving in the military.
“I have traveled the world due to military experience – from the mountains in Afghanistan to the farms of southern Europe and have had the opportunity to observe and formulate an informed perspective of how energy consummation and practices change the environment,” Smith said in his scholarship application personal statement. “My goal is to contribute to sustainable energy policies that promote innovation while ensuring responsible resource management. make a meaningful impact on the future of our planet. I am committed to crafting policies that balance sustainability, innovation, and equity, and I look forward to contributing to this dynamic field.”
