University of Texas School of Law
Nathaniel Corwin, an EMLF General Fund Scholarship recipient, is in his third year at University of Texas School of Law. He plans to study in Spain this fall, following his dream of managing global EPC contracts and operation agreements to provide the world with energy. Corwin said he didn’t choose the energy industry for a career – it chose him. While searching on a library computer in high school, he found a career called petroleum engineering that sound interesting, so he majored in it in college. He has worked as a field engineer in Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Louisiana and it was in Japan, where he met his wife, that he decided to go to law school.
“Though my start was in science and traditional oil and gas, I plan to help bring energy to market to meet global demands, which will improve the lives of countless people, by assisting clients in energy and project-development transactions, not just in oil and gas but also renewables,” Corwin said in his personal statement. “I have shown interest in and dedication to the field, both in my earlier career and in my actions in law school. In the future, I plan to remain an active member of the energy-law community in Texas, with an eye toward international development.”
