Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center
Piper Cotton is in her third year at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, and a recipient of the EMLF General Fund Scholarship. She says she grew up interested in the environment and climate change and began to focus on what she could do to help protect the planet.
“In the future, I hope to practice in Energy and Natural Resources Law. I am particularly
interested in working in a private firm, with a focus on renewable resources. Also, I hope to have
a hand in bringing in new technologies such as lithium mining and carbon capture and sequestration into the field, or whatever may come next in this ever-changing sphere. Later in my career, I hope to work in policy making or potentially doing nonprofit work. Regardless of where I end up, I know that my focus will be Energy and Natural Resources, because that is where my passions align,” Cotton said in her personal statement in her scholarship application.
