Addison Jones is going into her third year at LSU Paul N. Hebert Law Center. Jones said growing up in Louisiana, she always understood the critical role that the energy and natural resources industries play in both local and national economies. She’s a recipient of the Mary Sue Shulberg Scholarship and EMLF General Fund Scholarship.
Her student note, which examines the recent Louisiana Supreme Court Case, Self v. BPX Operating Co., focusing on allocating post-production costs in the state’s forced pooling system, was selected for publication and awarded Best Note or Comment Award for Volume XIV. Her experience meeting energy professionals at EMLF’s Fall Symposium left a lasting impression. Her work a law clerk at Kean Miller LLP, with the Energy Practice Group and Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Houston as a summer associate are helping her gain experience in energy transactions and corporate matters impacting the industry.
“Looking ahead, I intend to practice in Texas, where I can contribute to the legal frameworkssupporting the energy and natural resources industries—industries that are vital to both Louisiana and Texas. Whether through transactional work or regulatory compliance, I aim to help companies navigate the evolving legal landscape of the energy sector,” Jones said in her personal statement, saying she planned to stay connected to “EMLF’s exceptional community of professionals, scholars, and mentors who are shaping the future of energy law.”
The Mary Sue Schulberg Scholarship is giving annually in remembrance of Mary Sue, a former president and longtime valuable member of EMLF.
