Mary Keeling is going into her second year at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, a recipient of the Sharon Daniels and EMLF General Fund Scholarships.
Keeling says she was born into the energy business – her great grandfather was a lobbyist in the mining industry, and her grandfather had a quarry business – and she hopes to bring equality to it.
“I have been in several court rooms and it is clear that the people in the room are most often senior male attorneys; I have been told that the work is a hard door to open,” Keeling said. “However, I know I have the confidence to bring my youth and femininity with me, and my experience and education to support me. The energy and natural resources industry is lucky to have my lifelong commitment, and I am forever thankful for the life and encouragement I have found within it.”
** The Sharon Daniels Scholarship was established in 2018 in honor of retiring longtime Executive Director, Sharon Daniels. A scholarship of $1,000 is given from this fund to a female candidate with an emphasis on need over academic performance, and with preference to a University of Oklahoma student where possible.
