2024-2025 Scholarship Recipient Brenden Carroll

Brenden Carroll is going into his third year at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, and is a recipient of the EMLF General Fund Scholarship.

This summer Carroll will work for a small firm on local utilities and maritime commercial transactions, and the Environmental Section of the Louisiana Department of Justice. In southern Louisiana, where he grew up, everyone worked in the energy industry, he said.

“From production, to refining, to shipping and consumption, everyone’s lives were intertwined with the energy industry. One grandfather was an inland rig construction supervisor for an operator in west Texas, another worked for a refinery. My father has worked in the mid-stream boat and barge business for almost twenty years. Even I worked on a tugboat pushing crude oil from Empire, Louisiana, up to Belpry, Ohio,” Carroll said. “The energy industry is changing, and there is too much opportunity not only in my home state, but all over the US for me to miss out. I know now I want to be a part of that change, like my father and grandfathers before me.”
