January Webinar Recap - Networking in the New Year

Colene ‌

On Thursday, January 27, EMLF members participated in a Networking in the New Year workshop with Lexington, Kentucky-based business coach Colene Eldridge, owner of Be More Consulting. Coach Colene walked participants through exercises to develop strategies for better networking and helped craft elevator pitches. Members had the opportunity to put the new techniques to work in breakout sessions at the end of the hour.

Board of Trustees member Courtney Samford was one of those in attendance at the workshop. She praised Coach Colene and the experience, saying, “I love how relatable Coach Colene is, and how she emphasized that networking could be fun but also beneficial professionally. And it was great to walk away with an elevator pitch that I can start using right away!”

Mountain Valley Pipeline Clears Two Regulatory Hurdles

HallKeith Bio ‌

The Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) project involves construction of an approximately 304-mile pipeline from northwestern West Virginia to southern Virginia, with about 197 miles of the pipeline’s route located in West Virginia and 107 miles in Virginia. The purpose of the pipeline is to transport natural gas from the Marcellus Shale and Utica Shale to markets in the Mid and South Atlantic regions of the United States.

The MVP recently cleared two regulatory hurdles by obtaining a “§ 401 certification” from Virginia’s State Water Control Board on December 20, 2021 and a separate § 401 certification from West Virginia’s Department of Environmental Protection on December 30, 2021 (a background explanation regarding the reason these certifications were needed is provided later in this article).
