The Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF) is proud to announce it has presented its 2022 Founders
Award to Samuel L. Douglass. This award recognizes members who were integral in the creation of the Energy and
Mineral Law Foundation.

Sam was one of the first members of EMLF, and he served as the Foundation’s first President from 1979 through 1981. He graduated from Mount Union College with a B.A., and received his L.L.B. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Sam was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1959. Before his retirement, he was a part of many organizations, including Allegheny County Bar Association, where he served as a chairman; the Pennsylvania Bar Association; the American Bar Association; and The School District of the Township of Upper St. Clair where he served as a solicitor for 28 years. He was recognized in the The Best Lawyers In America for real estate for a number of years, and was also recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer. Sam is now retired, and resides in the Pittsburgh area with his wife, Judy, and near family, including his son, former EMLF president, Kevin Douglass.

Sam's contributions to EMLF are beyond measure, and EMLF is honored to present him this award.

EMLF is a non-profit organization that is an accredited provider of continuing education for lawyers, landmen, and other energy professionals. For more information about EMLF, visit emlf.org.
